Dean’s Retirement Sunday 28 July 2024

Dear friends and colleagues of Dean Paul Johnson,

The time has come for Paul to step down as the Rector of St. John’s Cathedral/Dean of Rupert’s Land and to enjoy a well-earned rest in retirement. His last Sunday in active ministry will be Sunday, July 28, and to mark the occasion, after morning worship at 10:30 a.m., we’re planning a Come and Go event at St. John’s Cathedral that will begin at 1:00 p.m. and end at 5:00 p.m., offering refreshments and fellowship, with time between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. for some music, a short speech or two and a little frivolity.

The Come and Go at the Cathedral will be preceded by a ceremony at the Healing Forest in St. John’s Park from noon to 1:00 p.m. when the Sacred Fire will be lit in honour of the Dean. We hope you can make it after worship and before the start of the events for the rest of the afternoon.

Mark your calendars now and prepare to have a good time. Let’s give our Pastor/Rector/Dean/Friend Paul a great send-off!
